Safari is the default web browser for Apple devices. If you're using Safari, you can follow these steps to back up browser information like bookmarks, browsing history, and saved passwords. Once backed up, these can all be accessed again from a different device.
1. Sign into your BJU Apple ID
Safari's browser data is backed up to iCloud using an Apple ID. You can use your BJU account to log into your university Apple ID.
- On your Mac, click on the Apple icon in the top left corner of the screen and select "System Settings."
- The Settings window may look different depending on your operating system version. Click on the option for signing into your Apple ID near the top of the window, or use the search bar to search for "Apple ID."
Enter your BJU email address as your Apple ID and click "Next."
- Click "Continue" to open up the BJU login screen. Use your BJU password to sign in.
- After entering your password and authenticating, it may take up to a minute for the computer to finish signing you in for the first time. Wait until the Settings window changes to show your full name and email address.
- If you've signed in before, you may have the option of Merging your Safari data with data that's already been backed up. If so, choose to Merge.
2. Make sure iCloud is set to back up Safari
- Underneath your name and email address, select "iCloud" from the list of settings.
- Look for Safari under "Apps Using iCloud. You may need to click "Show All." Make sure the toggle switch is on.
The browsing data may not sync immediately, so make sure your computer stays connected to the internet for a few hours after signing into the Apple ID.
