Windows 11 Required Update

What to know

IT is rolling out the Windows 11 24H2 update to all Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers beginning on Tuesday, August 19th. The update will be forced on Friday, October 3rd at 5:00 PM if you have not chosen to install it by that date.

What to do

IT recommends you install this update as soon as possible. Doing so will help them in their efforts to keep our environment secure, especially since Microsoft support for Windows 10 is ending in October. The update will be available in Software Center beginning on Tuesday, August 19th. Instructions to upgrade your computer at your convenience are included below. Please be sure to save your work before starting the update since your computer will reboot several times during the installation process.

What to expect

  • The installation may take several hours.
  • Your computer may restart multiple times during the process.
  • If you're currently using Windows 10, this update will upgrade your system to Windows 11.
  • You may continue using your computer during the installation; however, please save your work frequently, as your device may restart with little warning.
