Microsoft Edge is BJU's recommended web browser. If you normally use Chrome or some other browser, you can easily import all of your browsing information, including bookmarks and saved passwords, into Edge.
1. Open Microsoft Edge
Press the Windows key and type "Edge." The app should appear as the top result. Click it to open it.
2. Sign into your account
If this is your first time opening Microsoft Edge, you'll see a Welcome screen asking you to sign in. Choose to sign in using your BJU email address and password if prompted.
Once you're signed in, the browser will walk you through setting up some appearance settings. You may customize these settings to your preferences, or you may leave them at their default and continue to the next step labeled "Import your Browser Data."
If the browser opens without showing the Welcome screen or asking you to log in, click on the profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen to open the profile panel.
Follow one of the set of steps below based on what you see:
Option 1
If your BJU email address appears near the top:
|
- Check right below it and confirm that syncing is turned on.
- If it isn't, click "Turn on Sync."
|
Option 2
If a different email address is signed in:
|
- Check near the bottom to see if you have a Work profile with your BJU email address. If so, click on it.
- If not, click "Other Profiles" and select "Add Profile." Click "Add." Sign in with your BJU credentials.
|
Option 3
If there is no email address near the top:
|
- Under "Choose an account." make sure your BJU email address is selected.
- If it isn't in the list, select "Add new account."
- Click "Sign in to sync data."
|
3. Import your Browser Data
Now that your account is logged in and syncing, click on the star icon with the three lines near the top-right of the screen. Click the three dots at the top of the panel and select "Import Favorites.
Depending on what browser you normally use, you may see it listed with an "Import" button. If so, click "Import." If you don't, look under "Import from other browsers" and click "Choose what to import."
In the box that appears, make sure your normal browser is selected. If there are multiple profiles listed in the "Profile" drop down, choose the one where your browsing data is saved.
Keep everything checked, and at the bottom of the box (you may need to scroll down) click the "Import" button.
A message should appear confirming that your data has been transferred. Saved bookmarks, browsing history, stored passwords, etc., should all be visible in Edge.
When you use Edge on another computer, you can sign into Edge with your BJU credentials and immediately have access to all of these.
